Veronica Piedra Leon (President)  | Veronica is a proud mother of two New York City public school students, a social worker, and a dedicated public servant. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Research and a Master’s in Social Work, with over a decade of experience working in both the public and private sectors. For nearly five years, she has served as a parent leader, working closely with families and educators to strengthen partnerships that support every child’s success. A proud graduate of the public school system, Veronica understands the power of strong schools and engaged communities. She currently serves as Co-President of the D25 President’s Council and is thankful for the opportunity to serve as the 2025–2026 P.S. 165Q PTA President. Guided by a lifelong dedication to public service, Veronica is deeply committed to advancing family engagement, promoting equity and inclusion, and creating school environments where families, teachers, and students thrive together. |
Dorothy LeRay (Treasurer) | I’m Dorothy LeRay, this year’s PTA Treasurer. I’m a mom of two wonderful children, one of whom is in his 3rd year at the school, and I am a patent attorney by training. I am also a science nerd and enjoy reading, good food, improving my Mandarin Chinese, and having fun with the kids. I believe in putting our time and efforts where it matters the most, our kids, and I am excited to take on the role of PTA Treasurer this year. My goal is to enhance our kids’ school experience and build community through teamwork, dedication, and a positive attitude. Together, let’s make this year a great success! |
Miranda Guerrero (Corresponding Secretary) | Hi! My name is Miranda Guerrero and I am the PTA Corresponding Secretary for the 2025-2026 School Year! I am looking forward to collaborating with families, seeing all the kids happy faces at our events, and supporting the school in whatever way possible this year. Being a part of the PTA is so important to me, because I love to be present in my kids’ school while also helping out the community and serving the rest of the families. Wendy Guaman (Recording Secretary) | Hi PS165Q Families! My name is Wendy and I am this year’s new Recording Secretary. I’m a Mom to 4 awesome children and we’ve been part of the PS165 community for a few years now. You or your child may have seen me volunteering at previous school events. I’ve always loved working with kids, planning events and just doing my part to help so I decided to join the PTA Executive Board this year.
